An initial brief glance at the Champion bulldog should bring a favorable report. Its framework of bones whether small or moderate, should support its muscular physique covered with delicate hair. The sole aspect where the rule is slightly modified is that its dewclaws (a vestigial fifth claw) can be removed. This is permitted only to avoid health issues.

The Champion French Bulldog should always have a large head, appearing square. The eyes should be positioned in such that they are farther away from one another. Moreover, they must be dark, circular, and medium-sized and appear stern or bulged. When the dog looks straight ahead, no haw or white of the eye should be seen. Lighter color of the eyes is accepted provided that the dog is of a lighter shade.
